1. De Burgo-Pellicer Site Marker
Inscription. José Peso de Burgo and Francisco Pellicer jointly purchased this property in 1780, when Florida was the capital of British East Florida. These men were important members of the Minorcan community, who had resettled in St. Augustine in 1117 from Andrew Turnbull's New Smyrna indigo plantation. After dividing their property, they each constructed wood frame houses in the British style on this site. In 1971 the State of Florida built this double house as an example of domestic life in the military town.

Built in 1977 by the State of Florida with a donation by former Florida State Senate President Verle A. Pope
