1. Through Our Eyes Marker
Inscription.
Over thirty people contributed to the Through Our Eyes project by taking photographs of whatever struck them as important, interesting, or beautiful. All of the photographers have recently made Fall River their home and in 2018 were adult English-language learners at SER-Jobs for Progress, Inc. Their images and accompanying captions depict family and friends, cultural traditions, and what it is like to leave a homeland with the dream of building a safer and better life in the U.S. The aim of the Through Our Eyes project is to share their storeis and creative visiions with the wider community.

The project was made possible by a Creative Commonwealth Grant from the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts, a MassHumanities grant, and contributions from SER-Jobs for Proggress and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

I am hemming jeans in this photo. I learned how to seaw growing up in Brazil with my mother, Otilia. I really enjoy sewing because it is a tranquil job.
