Inscription. This cemetery was founded by local families, many from nearby farms, in the early 1800s. It is still owned and maintained by a volunteer board made up of their descendants. The Elk Grove Cemetery is distinguished by the presence of two graves for veterans of the American Revolutionary War and maintains a small memorial commemorating the service and history of Eli Skinner and Aaron Miner. These are the only two verified graves for Revolutionary War veterans in all of Cook County. The cemetery also contains graves of veterans of the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, as well as individuals who served as first responders in nearby communities.

More about this marker. The marker was apparently erected in 2026 as a part of a scavenger hunt sponsored by Elk Grove Village in celebration of its 70th anniversary. The "code word" at the bottom is used to complete the scavenger hunt form.

The small cemetery next Interstate 90 was not incorporated into Elk Grove Village until 2025, when restoration on the cemetery was begun. Among other things, a new fence was constructed; this historical marker is affixed to that fence. The refurbished cemetery was rededicated on July 4, 2026.
