Inscription.
No. 6...........................................................................U.
Sheridan's Division - Granger's Corps.
Maj. Gen. Philip H. Sheridan.

Nov. 25, 1863, P.M.

1st Brigade - Col. Francis T. Sherman.
2d Brigade - Brig. Gen. George D. Wagner.
3d Brigade - Col. Charles G. Harker.

On the morning of Nov. 25th Gen. Sheridan advanced his line to the right of and in prolongation of the line of Wood's Division of Granger's Corps which occupied Orchard's Knob. Wagner's Brigade was on the left next to Wood, Harker's next on the right, each in two lines. Sherman held the right of the Division formed in three lines, of three regiments each, the left of his Brigade resting on the Moore Road (now Montgomery Avenue). At 3:15 the Division moved forward in the general assault of the Army of the Cumberland upon the ridge, carried the earthworks at its base, and halted there according to orders, but began almost immediately to ascend the slope in obedience to further orders from Gen. Granger. The center of the Division reached the crest at Bragg's Headquarters in the face of very persistent opposition from Breckinridge's Division commanded by Brig. Gen. W.B. Bate. It continued to press the retreating enemy toward Chickamauga Station

Location. 35° 1.16′ N, 85° 15.804′ W. Marker is in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Hamilton County. It is in Missionary Ridge. Marker is on South Crest Road south of East Main Street, on the left when traveling south. In order to view this historical marker one must find a way to get to the crest of Missionary Ridge. The options to use in ascending Missionary Ridge are limited and difficult to locate if you are not familiar with the area. From downtown Chattanooga, I drove east to Missionary Ridge on Main Street, and using Main Street took me to the top of Missionary Ridge. Once at the top of Missionary Ridge I needed to make two right turns to get on South Crest Street and then go only a slight distance south to reach the Bragg Reservation which is where this historical marker is located. Once you have entered the Bragg Reservation you will find
