Inscription. Distinguished naturalist from Indiana, who from his home across the highway devoted twenty-seven winters, between 1913 and 1940, to the highly skillful exploration of the world of nature around Dunedin and elsewhere in southern Florida, writing some of his fascinating nature-study books and parts of his classic volumes on orders of insects. Erected by the Dunedin Historical Society 1976.
