"During the month careful survey was made of the native herbs, with an eye to their medicinal value, and several useful ones were found, for instance, 'Squasweed' for rheumatism, 'Milkweed' for pleurisy, 'Indian Physic' for preventing fevers, 'Robert Plantain' a valuable antidote, as is also 'Snake Root', and much Holly."
