Inscription.

German-English translation:.
In 1833 an inferno incinerated ten adjacent houses of a double row that had been built between the Reuss River and the grain- and wine-markets. During reconstruction, the new buildings were raised one story and the former backyards were converted into an alley. Since 1834 this has been the so-called "Fire Alley".

Erected by Stadt der Luzern (City of Lucerne).
