Additional commentary.
1. Lillie Mackall
Lillie Mackall was a loyal associate of the more famous Confederate spy Rose O'Neal Greenhow. Lillie's main espionage activity was skulking around the Capitol and other federal buildings listening to overhear stray conversations. She joined Mrs. Greenhow in house arrest at "Fort Greenhow" as Pinkerton called Mrs. Greenhow's 16th Street house and smuggled messages out. In late 1861, Lillie caught cold and died on the 12th of December at age 22. (Laura Linney played Lillie Mackall in the 1993 made-for-TV movie "The Class of '61.'")
