Anderson's Brigade, temporarily attached to Hood's Division, reached Sharpsburg about noon of the 15th, and went into position on the south of this road in support of the Washington Artillery.
It remained in this position and in a corresponding position on the opposite side of the road, which it occupied for about three hours, until the morning of the 17th when it was moved to the left to support Hood's Division.

2. Tablets for D.R. Jones' Division
Three tablets in this cluster detail the operations of D.R. Jones' Confederates. On the left is a tablet for Anderson's Brigade (number 328). In the center is D.R. Jones' Division tablet for September 17 (number 321). On the right is another tablet for the division, covering operations for September 15-16 (number 322).

3. Entrance to National Cemtetery, Antietam Battlefield
Anderson's Brigade, from mid-day on September 15 until the early morning of the 17th, occupied a position just west of the Lutheran Church, on the east edge of Sharpsburg. The ground today is part of the National Cemetery. The two tablets at the entrance are for the Washington Artillery, numbers 307 and 308.

4. Anderson's Brigade Position
The brigade was positioned across what is now the cemetery, oriented to the east. From here the brigade supported the batteries of the Washington Artillery arrayed to defend the Boonsboro Pike.
