Wharton's Division - Brigadier General John A. Wharton.
Martin's Division - Brigadier General William T. Martin.
Troops of this Corps were engaged in guarding the passes of Lookout Mountain as far as Gadsden, Alabama, and the upper fords of the Chickamauga.
The remainder of the Corps was concentrated at Glass' Mill. About 11 A.M. Wheeler, with this latter force dismounted, crossed the river and attacked Long's Brigade of Crook's Cavalry Division, 900 strong, and after a severe fight drove it back to the vicinity of Crawfish Springs, the Union loss in killed, wounded and missing being 131.
He then recrossed the river under orders to proceed to Lee and Gordon's Mills and attack the enemy.
He arrived there about 3 o'clock, again crossed and attacked capturing a number of prisoners, wagons, arms and a quantity of ammunition.
He then moved to Crawfish Springs where, about dark, he captured the Union hospitals, together with such wounded as could not bear transportation when the Union forces withdrew from that place at 5 P.M.
