Additional commentary.
1. Sheriff John Boggs Dunn
John Dunn is my great, great grandfather. It was interesting to come across a photo of this marker in my search for info on him. I grew up in Montana & remember summer trips to Red Lodge as a child.

2. Bank Robbery
This is in reply to Sheriff Dunns' great grandson. Have you seen the photo of Sheriff Dunn walking three prisoners down the street to the train station? This photo was taken in Lavina, Mt.
It shows Kid Curry, Sundance Kid & Walt Punteney. Kid Curry was my cousin. I am doing research about my family on the Logan side.

3. Sheriff John Dunn
I knew John Raymond Lindquist who is the grandson of John Dunn. When Ray died he left me John Dunn's personal pistol, a 25 caliber Iver Bicycle Works revolver. Thinking it should go to a family member.... Note To Editor only visible by Contributor and editor

Jim of Clearwater FL - I am the great great grand daughter of John Boggs Dunn and just came across your comment mentioning Sheriff Dunn's personal revolver. I would like more information but am unsure

3. Foiled Bank Robbery Site Marker
1897 - Carbon County MT Sheriff John Dunn (back left in black) & associates, walking Kid Curry (left), Sundance Kid (middle) & Walt Punteney (right) to the train in Lavina MT (to be returned to SD as wanted men) after he & his posse captured them.
These members of the Hole In The Wall Gang (also referred to as The Wild Bunch) were on the run after robbing a bank in Belle Fourche SD & had planned on robbing the bank in Red Lodge MT when they were found out & the chase ensued. Sheriff Dunn shot Kid Curry through his wrist (which he is holding up in this photo) & then captured him.
