El Palacio 1 es el más grande en Iximche’. Se piensa que era la residencia del linaje Sotz’il, el más prominente de la región. El análisis de materiales arqueológicos recuperados en el interior del palacio indica que allí se llevaban muchas actividades rituales.

Also known as Palace 1, this is the biggest palace at Iximche’. We believe this was the residence of the Sotz’il family, the most prominent in the region. Archaeological studies of artifacts found inside this palace suggest that there was considerable ritual activity taking place within its walls.

Location. 14° 44.12′ N, 90° 59.728′ W. Marker is in Tecpán Guatemala, Chimaltenango. The marker is directly on top of the Sotz'il Palace in Plaza B of the Archaeological Park of Iximche. The park is south of the city of Tecpán Guatemala on a road known locally as the "Road to Iximche". Touch for map.
