Como reacción a la represión y muerte de Antonio Ay el 30 de julio de 1847 inicia la Guerra de Castas en Tepich. Luchó por constituir una nación maya, independiente de México, que respetara los derechos de los indígenas.

English translation:
Cecilio Chi
1823-1849
Leader from Tepich, Quintana Roo.
As a reaction to repression and the death of Antonio Ay on July 30, 1847, he began the Caste War in Tepich. He fought to constitute a Mayan nation, independent of Mexico, that would respect the rights of indigenous people.
