1. Reagan-Gorbachev Meeting 1988 Marker
Plaque is located on the back porch of the house.
Inscription. Chairman Gorbachev made his final preparations here before participating in the historic luncheon at Quarters 1 with President Reagan and Vice President Bush on 7 December 1988. During that time, he also composed his first communique to the U.S.S.R. following initial report of the Armenian Earthquake Disaster.
 
Location. 40° 41.346′ N, 74° 1.056′ W. Marker is in Governors Island, New York, in New York County. Marker is at the intersection of Clayton Road and Hay Road on Clayton Road. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: New York NY 10004, United States of America.

2. Statue of Liberty Centennial Plaque
On July 4, 1986, in these quarters, President and Mrs. Mitterand of France rested and dined prior to their meeting with President and Mrs. Reagan in Quarters No. 1 here on Governors Island on the occasion of the Centennial Celebration of the Statue of Liberty.
(Plaque is located on the back porch of the house)
Quarters #1, which is across Nolan Park near the intersection of Barry and Andes Roads. While Quarters #1 was the location for the luncheons mentioned on these markers, this building was used for other important diplomatic meetings.

This view of the side and front porch of Historic Quarters Number 1 show that the building has been sadly neglected by the City of New York. Paint is starting to peel and the wood is starting to rot.

Time and weather aren't the only things impacting this historic old house. Signs of vandalism can be seen around the property. This photo was taken on the side porch of the home.

Vandals have removed whatever was located on the top of the column. The dials with the zodiac rotate so one can assume it was some sort of time keeping device that could be adjusted to account for the position of the sun in the sky throughout the year.
