This memorial is in memory of Jacob
and Martha Boggs Johnson, and marks
the spot where the Indian cabin stood
Into which they moved April 1. 1805. With
other pioneers they came as the Indians
departed and worthily bore their part
in subduing the wilderness. They and
their direct descendants have occupied
this land for a century and this memorial
is placed in grateful remembrance.
