"Mr. Adirondacks"
Born 1894 – Died 1959

Rist Mountain was named by the State of New York to commemorate Ernie's extensive conservation work and his efforts in a bipartisan way in establishing Rt. 28N as the Roosevelt- Marcy Memorial Highway. He was instrumental in getting legislation passed to allow the Adirondack Northway (I-87) to pass thru the forest preserve and in having the state campsites built on Lake Harris, Newcomb, NY.

Ernie was one of the founders of the Adirondack Park Association now known as ANCA (Adirondack North Country Association).
