1. 2514 E. Franklin Street Marker
Inscription. This Italianate two-story, pressed brick rowhouse was constructed along with the adjacent rowhouses (2510 and 2512 E. Franklin St.) prior to 1877 and retains its original bracketed eaves and pierced paneled cornice. The first recorded residents of the house, Rev. John M. Butler, pastor of Fulton Baptist Church, and his wife A. Wilkie Butler, resided here from 1879 through 1880. Other residents included Alfred B. Cheatham, clerk for the Virginia Steamboat Company, John F. Parkinson, policeman, William Miffleton, printer for J.W. Fergusson & Son, and James N. Smith, tinner. This house is listed as a contributing structure to the St. Johns Church Historic District listed on the Virginia Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
