Inscription.
The M-113 Armored Personnel Carrier. Weight: 22,000 lbs.; Width: 105.75"; Height: 98.25°. While this vehicle is not a "tank", it has been adapted with so many types of weapons and upgraded with steel plating, it has been used aggressively. There is usually a 3 man crew and it can carry 11 fully loaded and equipped troops into combat. For extra protection, the troops exit the rear of the vehicle via a hydraulically operated ramp system. It is amphibious, using the tracks for propulsion. This vehicle was first produced in the early 1960s by the FMC Manufacturing Company. It holds a Chrysler 75M-V8 engine with an Allison TX-200-2 conversion unit to propel the tracks. In later models, this was modified to use diesel fuel as being safer. Many thousands of these same military vehicles have been produced. Although the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and more recently the "Stryker" are being used, our forces are still using this vehicle all over the world today, as are 50 other friendly nations.
