1. 1003 Main Street Marker
Inscription. This is the former home of J. M. H. Beale and his wife, Julia D. Lewis Beale. Mr. Beale was the owner of a farm eight miles south of town and was one of the most progressive farmers in the county. Mrs. Beale was a great-granddaughter of Colonel Charles Lewis who fell in the Battle of Point Pleasant.
