1. Blue descendents gain familial rights at Hicksville Cemetery (Galt Herald, May 1, 2013).
"It’s been a long and emotional battle, but descendants of Miwok Indian Aleck Blue have finally been given official rights to burial grounds at the Hicksville Cemetery on Arno Road....Sunday, April 28, Galt-Arno Cemetery District officials dedicated a portion of the cemetery, designating it exclusively to the Blue family. Descendants have been fighting for this for years, claiming that Pio Valensin, property owner at the time, promised the area to Blue for him and his family."

The photo shows the burial area for the Blue family. Most of the grave markers are set horizontally on the ground rather than vertically, and so there are more burials here than would be apparent from the photo.
