1. Henry Bayler (1819-1897): Slightly off to your right at approximately the one o'clock position, lies Henry Bayler, Bayler owned a tanning business and quartered troops in his currying shop in York along Water (Pershing) and King Streets.
Sarah Ann Bayler (1821-1876) was married to Henry Bayler. She fed the soldiers and nursed the wounded. Many officers ate at their table. A unit of U.S. Zouave cadets from Pittsburgh left behind a Bible in return for their room and board. (This Bible is on display in the York County Heritage Trust Civil War exhibit.)
