5. Daniel Kraber (1808-1882): Looking over your left shoulder, you will see the gravestone of Daniel Kraber. He ran D. Kraber Co., a lumber business on West Market Street near Penn Street. Kraber was a member of the Committee of Safety during the Civil War. Following the War, he was associated with the Children's Home, the Benevolent Association and with the York Borough public schools.

6. Cassandra Small Morris (1793-1872): Slightly to your right lies Cassandra Morris. She was a sister of town leader Philip A. Small and wife of Charles A. Morris. She volunteered early in the war to aid the sick and wounded in York. She became bedridden following her time at Gettysburg.

Charles A. Morris (1792-1874) was the owner of Morris Drug Company on East Market Street. His business was searched by the Confederates during the occupation. Drugs had been hidden from the Confederates and later used to treat the Union wounded at Gettysburg. Written on the building's third floor wall was the following: "Rebels in York June 28 1863/Gettysburg July 3rd and 4th, 1863." Morris and brother-in-law Samuel Small were the major monetary
