1. Blockhouse Marker
Inscription. The blockhouses served as lookouts, headquarters of General Thomas S Jesup, and protection of the troops in the event of an Indian attack. Two blockhouses were constructed on opposite corners of the stockade twenty (20) feet square with four (4) feet overhang on the second level. They were constructed of pine logs which were plentiful in the area and chinked with a mixture of sand and lime
