Rain Garden
Shaped like a bowl, a rain garden captures rainwater that flows across the ground during big storms (stormwater runoff) and the water naturally filters into the ground. Here in Wilmington this stormwater is frequently filled with pollutants like car oil, trash, and dog waste. The raingarden can stop the pollutants from entering the Brandywine and Christina Rivers. Installed in 2020, this rain garden captures stormwater from Van Buren St. and the grass surrounding the park. You can keep pollutants out of our waterways by recycling oil, cleaning up after your dog, and not littering.
