1. The Stockade Wall Marker
This stockade wall and ditch are representative of what was found at Strawtown Koteewi Park. The Oliver Village is often referred to as the Strawtown Enclosure because the village was "enclosed" by a stockade wall and ditch. The ditch was well drained and was not intended to collect water.
The poles along the exterior rim of our interpretive experience signify the approximate size of the original Strawtown Enclosure Village which was about 100 yards in diameter. Be sure to visit the actual village site which is located just to the west. The Castor Farm Village was surrounded by a double stockade wall.
