Inscription.
Graduated at West Point in 1854
Wounded in action with the Apache
Indians at the Gila River in 1857.
Served with distinction in several
engagements in the Rebellion.
Brevetted for rescuing his command
at the surrender at Harpers Ferry
by gallantly cutting his way through
the enemy's lines and while bravely
fighting to preserve the Republic was
killed at the combat at Beverly Ford, Va.
June 9th. 1863,
in the 31st. year of his age.

 
Erected 1870 by his Surviving Classmates.
