Proyecto del Escultor, Guillermo Ruiz, en el interior se pueden contemplar murales a la encáustica y fresco, alusivas a la vida de Morelos, realizadas en 56 paneles, por el muralista Ramon Alva de la Canal, en los años de 1936 a 1940.

De la palabra purepecha Xanicha (Lugar de pocos) se ubica en la parte central del lago de Patzcuaro, pueblo que conserva aun su autenticidad en costumbres, lengua, y vestuario. La velación de la Noche de Muertos 1 y 2 de nov. En la cima de la isla puede apreciar la panoramica del lago y sus islas. Asi como el gran monumento a Morelos cuya altura es de 47.75 mts.

The construction of this work was one of the great ideas of General Lazaro Cardenas in the years 1931 to 1934. Project of the sculptor Guillermo Ruiz, inside you can see encaustic (heated wax technique) and fresco murals, alluding to the life of Morelos, made in 56 panels, by the muralist Ramon Alva de la Canal during the years from 1936 to 1940.

From the Purepecha word ‘Xanicha’ (Place of the few), it is located in the central part of Lake Patzcuaro, a town that still preserves its authenticity in customs, language, and dress. The vigil of the Night of the Dead is on November 1 and 2. At the top of the island you can appreciate the panoramic view of the lake and its islands, as well as the great monument to Morelos whose height is 47.75 meters.
