1. Lincoln County Marker
Inscription.
Star City was laid off in 1871 as the County Seat of the newly created Lincoln County which was named in honor of President Abraham Lincoln. It was the center of many Indian trails and early roads which ran from Mississippi River landings back into the hill country and of trails on the ridge between Bayou Bartholomew and the Saline River.
 
Erected 1936 by Arkansas Centennial Commission 1836-1936 Arkansas Historical Commission. (Marker Number F-7.)

Lincoln County is located between the Arkansas Timberlands and Arkansas Delta. Created as Arkansas's 65th county on March 28, 1871, Lincoln County has three incorporated cities, including Star City, the county seat and most populous city. The county was established during the Reconstruction era by the Arkansas General Assembly from parts of Arkansas, Bradley, Desha, Drew, and Jefferson counties.

met at Cane Creek Church on April 24, 1871. The site of what later became Star City was selected as the permanent county seat despite not being in the most central position. The first circuit court term was held in the fall of 1871.
