1. Tallahassee Bus Boycott Marker
Inscription. On May 26, 1956, two female Florida A&M University students broke the law by refusing to move to the back of a crowded bus. The police arrested them. Tallahassee's African American community responded by boycotting city buses for seven months until the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the law unconstitutional.
