Julie J. Metz Amphitheater
This amphitheater offers visitors and students a starting point for their tour of the Julie J. Metz Wetland bank. The primitive nature of this seating area provides a gathering place for groups visiting the Wetland bank, without disturbing the natural setting.
It is named in honor of Julie J. Metz as a tribute to her dedication to education. Ms. Metz was an environmental scientist employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She fell victim to breast cancer in 1995. She chaired the committee responsible for preparing federal policy on wetlands mitigation banking. The wetlands bank was dedicated in her honor and reflects her outstanding work accomplishments.
This amphitheater was made possible through generous donations from the Metz family and the Prince William County Department of Public Works.
