1. Geometric Enclosure Marker
Enclosed Area: 16.5 Acres
Height of Walls: 5 feet
This earthen geometric enclosure is 1200 feet in diameter. Archaeologists have suggested that this earthen enclosure defined sacred space, where various rituals or ceremonies took place. Notice the enclosure is not built on level ground, the eastern wall is about 40 feet higher in elevation than the western wall. One hypothesis suggests the Native Americans built the embankment wall around this drainage system to create a water catchment.
