1. Unknown Confederate Soldiers Marker
Inscription.
Within this plot lie 19 of 22 unknown Confederate soldiers originally buried here. These men were cared for by the Ladies Aid Association of Camden at the "Soldiers Rest", later named Wayside Hospital, during the War Between the States. In 1874 the Ladies Memorial Association purchased 22 headstones simply inscribed CSA and installed them at the graves. At some point in time, 3 of the burials and markers were removed and placed in private plots elsewhere in this cemetery. On April 16, 1915, the Memorial Association gave over ownership and care of this site to John D Kennedy Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, in whose care it remains.

Erected 2023 by John D Kennedy Chapter #308 United Daughters of the Confederacy.
