Inscription.
This memorial stands as a tribute to the African-descended men, women, and children who were enslaved at Chippokes Plantation between 1689 and 1863.

They were blacksmiths, field hands, nursemaids, cooks, gardeners, distillers, carpenters, masons, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers.

They are not forgotten; their legacy endures.
