1. The Paulson Point Midden Marker
Inscription. You are walking on 2,400 years of garbage. This archaeological midden is the açcumulation of trash from the people who lived here through the centuries. The midden contains pottery, stone tools, shell tools, and personal items like beads. Although it looks like a lot of shell fish, the sheer volume of the shells is misleading. Archaeological testing revealed that these people were also eating a lot of fish and terrestrial animals like white-tailed deer. What is not preserved in the archaeological record is the tremendous amount of plants these peoples also ate.
