Inscription. We invite you to stop and experience Colorado's only National Wild and Scenic River as it flows beside the Byway. Come travel the mountains, canyons, and valleys that remind us of our western heritage of exploration and adventure.

The Byway is 101 miles long one-way and follows Colorado Highway 14 between Interstate 25 in Fort Collins and Colorado Highway 125 in Walden, traveling over Cameron Pass and into North Park.

Along the Byway, you can find recreation sites, campgrounds, picnic areas restaurants, and stores. The Arrowhead Lodge and Moose Visitor Center provide further information about the area's recreation, wildlife, ecology, and history.

The headwaters of the Cache la Poudre River are in Rocky Mountain National Park. The river extends 126 miles to its confluence with the South Platte River just east of Greeley. It is a "working river" that is multi-use, providing clean water for agriculture, communities, and recreation along the Front Range.

Indigenous peoples were the first stewards of this land. The first documented Euro-American explorations into the canyon were of French and Spanish fur trappers in the 1800s.
