Inscription.
Given by the Peggy Shaw Society Children of the American Revolution in memory of Peggy Shaw a girl of 12 years who during an Indian attack at Hannastown in the year 1782 was struck down by a bullet while rescuing a small child who went outside the fort. She lingered twelve days and died. She is buried in the Middle Presbyterian Church burying grounds at Mt. Pleasant, Pa.
