1. Cowboys Marker
Inscription. A good cattle operation depended on the hard work and dedication of their cowboys who saw to the day to day operations of moving cattle from one pasture to another or repairing miles-long fences. It took a full week to ride the fence line around the 87,500-acre Vail Ranch. Some of the cowboys came with the Vails when they moved from the Empire Ranch in Arizona. Many cowboys would work seasonally for several different ranchers, especially during roundup or branding time. Many local cowboys were of Native American or Mexican descent.
