Inscription. The Erie and Ontario Railway, later the Michigan Central Railroad, provided a connection for steamship passengers coming from Toronto to Niagara Falls, Buffalo and beyond. From the 1880's into the early 20th century the Niagara Navigation Company brought thousands of passengers to Niagara, and the train provided the transportation to Niagara Falls. Many people would sail on the early steamer from Toronto then take the train to Niagara Falls for a day trip and return to board the late steamer home. Enjoy the trail as it follows the former rail line.

Preservation of this trail is a legacy project of the Nagara-on-the-Lake Sesquicentennial Committee.

The trail crosses many roads. Take extra caution at road crossings. Be courteous to trail users.
