1. Hog Creek Marker

Inscription. Ohio was home to the Saawaanookii people for thousands of years. They fought the United States, and defeated the first two armies sent here to suppress their liberty, before losing at the Battle of Fallen Timbers, and resigning to make peace in 1795. In 1817, the Shawnee agreed to live upon three land reservations with this one being called Hog Creek. In 1831, the Hog Creek reserve was dissolved, and the Shawnee Tribe, like all American Indians in Ohio (culminating with the Wyandotte Nation in 1843), were forced west first to Kansas, then to Oklahoma where their government is headquartered today.
