Inscription.
The design on the firepit is taken from traditional Myaamia ribbonwork patterns. Ribbonwork is a sewing art originally made with silk ribbons. In the mid-1700s, we began getting silk ribbons in trade. At first, we sewed them in lines on our clothes, but then Myaamia women developed ways to cut, fold, and sew the ribbons in layers, creating many different diamond patterns. Myaamia ribbonwork is distinctive in that we only make diamond patterns.
