Downtown Riverside in Riverside County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
Cesar E. Chavez Memorial
Like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., Cesar Chavez's legacy is one of non-violence. He mobilized hundreds of Americans to boycott, strike, and make change through political action. He used the fast as a tool to demonstrate personal sacrifice and commitment.
Chavez also showed us the power of a ‘Sν Se Puede! attitude, relentless determination against all odds and foes for as long as it takes to reach a goal. Our goal has been reached today to bring this story to the people of Riverside.
Under Chavez's leadership, the farmworker movement fought for the human rights of those among us with less: the poor, the disenfranchised, the mistreated, and the unrepresented.
We dedicate this monument as a memorial to Cesar E. Chavez and the farmworker movement. It completes the peace walk in the City of Riverside's downtown main street mall.
