Inscription.

(English translation:)

West-Kruiskade, Kruiskade, Middellandstraat, and Vierambachtstraat formed the southern dike of the ambachten (jurisdictional areas) of Blommersdijk and Beukelsdijk. In 1401, this southern dike was referred to as the 'Ka tot Rotterdam in Cool'. The name Kruiskade has been in use since 1506. On the oldest map featuring it—dating from 1540—the westward extension of this dike, reaching as far as the Delfshavense Schie, is labeled 'doorgeghraven oude ka' (excavated old dike). This section must predate 1389, as permission to dig the Delfshavense Schie was granted in that year. It likely derives its name from the 'Cruyskamp', a plot of land situated within the ambacht of Cool from the 15th through the 18th century.
