Claudius Menager a native of St. Claude, and Marie Bobin, born in Versailles, immigrated from France in the company of five hundred French emigrants who founded the new French town settlement now known as Gallipolis, in October 1790.
Their marriage on November 18, 1790 was the first wedding solemnized in the new settlement.
