1639: Cabins of the first Dutch settlers.
1668: Home of Sheriff John Manning, first British resident.
1676: Inherited by Mary Manningham, who married Robert Blackwell. Island was farmed & quarried by their descendants.
1796: Blackwell Farmhouse erected.
1828: Peter Cooper negotiated purchase of Island for the City of N.Y. on front porch of this house, price $32,000
1829-1955: The home of hospital and prison staffs.
1975: Restored by the N.Y.S. Urban Development Corp.
Erected 1981 by Roosevelt Island Historical Society.
