1. The Florida Hospital of Richmond, Virginia Marker
This building was part of the Florida Hospital, also called The Globe Hospital, and General Hospital #11, during the War Between The States. Formerly it had been the tobacco factory of James H. Grant, built in 1852.
It had been purchased by a delegation from Florida including Martha Reid, the widow of the 4th Territorial Governor of Florida. Dr. Thomas Palmer was the Surgeon, and Martha Reid was the Matron. On October 18, 1863, The Richmond Enquirer stated the low mortality statistics (about 4.8%) were due to the surgeons, "and also to the care and attention of the gentle, energetic and devoted Matron, Mrs. Ex-Governor Reid, of Florida."
Erected November 2012 for the Sesquicentennial of the War.

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources' National Register of Historic Places Nomination Form for Shockoe Bottom lists this building as having been constructed in 1853, with a new facade dating to 1971. The Florida Hospital Marker is visible above the mailbox, just left of the tree.
