Inscription.
Ellsworth Cemetery was created legally on December 21, 1876 when six Black Union Army Veterans formed the Ellsworth Cemetery Company. Mr. Reuben Walker, Mr. David Ireland, Mr. William Adams, Mr. Lewis Dorsey, Mr. William Massey and Mr. Samuel Bowens signed the articles of incorporation to provide a burial place "for the Colored residents of Westminster, Maryland.
