Alderwoods Group, a funeral services company, dedicated a series of identical 9/11 memorial plaques around the country, many of them affixed to fire stations. The plaque features imagery of Somerset County, PA, New York City, and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia (but denoted as Washington, DC, on the plaque). While an article about the unveiling of these markers could not be found, the company only existed between 2002 and 2006. Alderwoods was formed in 2002 after the funeral services company Loewen Group emerged from bankruptcy; it was acquired by Service Corporation International in 2006. This series is only for the markers titled "09.11.2001"; Alderwoods also erected several different 9/11 memorials at the cemeteries they owned.
